                         I Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar, Memorial Marriage Assistance Scheme

           To raise the education status of the poor girls who have Completed 10th std., the Tamil Nadu Government is implementing the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar memorial marriage assistance scheme.

         The Scheme has been implemented from 1989 onwards  as per G.O.M.S.No.  515 S.W.D dated 31.05.1989

Objectives of the Schemes

To help financially poor parents in getting their daughter’s marriage and to promote the educational status of poor girls.

Assistance provided

Rs. 20,000/-

3.

Eligibility Criteria

a) Educational Qualification

 

The bride should have Completed 10th std, at the time of  marriage

 

b) Income Limit

Not exceeding Rs.24,000/-  per annum

 

c) Age limit

Should have completed 18 years at the time of marriage

 

d) Other Criteria

Only one girl from a family is eligible

 

e) Time limit for sending the Application

With in 45 days before the date of Marriage. However even one day prior to marriage also can be  accepted

  II. E.V.R Maniyammaiyar Memorial Widow Daughter’s Marriage Assistance  Scheme

 

          To  Assist the  marriage of the daughters of poor widows, Tamil Nadu Government is implementing the E.V.R. Maniyammaiyar Memorial  widow daughter’s  marriage assistance scheme .

                                      As per G.O.No. 673 S.W.D dated 20.02.1982 the scheme has been implemented.

To help poor mothers who are widows by providing financial assistance for the marriage of their daughters.

Eligibility Criterial

a) Educational Oualification

 

No Educational  Qualification

 

b) Income Limit

Not exceeding Rs.24,000/- per annum

 

c) Age limit

Should have completed 18 years

 

d) Other Criteria

Only one daughter of poor widow  is eligible

 

e) Time limit for sending the Application

III   Annai Teresa Ninaivu orphan girls marriage assistance scheme   

          

            Tamil Nadu Government is implementing Annai Theresa ninaivu orphan girl marriage assistance scheme to help the  orphan girls for getting their marriage

       As per G.O.No. 820 S.W.D dated 20.03.1985 and Government order 127 S.W.D dated 01.10.2001 the Scheme has been implemented.

To help financially the Orphan Girls for getting  their Marriage

a) Educational Qualification

 

      Nil  

 

b) Income Limit

Not exceeding Rs.24,000/- per annum

18 to 30 years

 

d) Other Criteria

      Nil

IV.          Dr. Dharmambal Ammaiyar Ninaivu Widow remarriage assistance     scheme

            For rehabilitating the life of destitute widows in the society, Tamil Nadu Government is implementing Dr.Dharmambal ammaiyar Ninaivu Widow remarriage assistance Scheme.

           The scheme has been implemented as per G.O.No. 352 S.W.D dated 09.05.1997 to encourage the widow Remarriage

V  Anjugam Ammaiyar Memorial Inter caste marriage assistance   scheme

             To abolish untochability in the community, Tamil Nadu Government is implementing Anjugam Ammaiyar Memorial Inter caste marriage Assistance Scheme.

           As per the G.O.No. 456 S.W.D 18.09.1990 the scheme has been implemented to encourage the Inter – caste Marriage

To abolish caste and community feelings based on birth and wipe out the evils of un-touchability by encouraging inter-caste marriage

VI.  Sathiyavani Muthu Ammaiyar Memorial free supply of sewing machine Assistance Scheme

              With a view to increase employment opportunities and to provide self employment to widows destitute women physically handicapped men and women coming from poverty stiken family the Government is implementing sathyavani muthu ammaiyar ninaivu free supply of sewing machine Assistance scheme.

Sewing Machines are supplied free of cost with a view to increase the self employment potential and Rehabilitation of Destitute widows, deserted wives, socially handicapped women and physically handicapped men and women, and orphan girls

VII. Sivagami Ammaiyar Ninaivu girl child Protection scheme

 Definition:

         The objectives of this scheme are to prevent female infanticide, discourage preference for male child and to promote family planning. This scheme also ensures equal opportunity in education for girl children on par with male children.

          Under scheme I  an  amount of Rs.22,200/- is deposited in Tamil Nadu Power Finance and infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd., Chennai in the name of the girl child, if there is only one girl child in the family with no other male  child in the family and when either of the parents has undergone sterilization before the age of 35 years. A monthly payment of  Rs. 150/- is released to the children

from the interest accrued from the deposit to take care of the education of the child from standard I to x. On the 20th year of the deposit the terminal benefit is released to the girl to enable her to pursue higher education or to defray the marriage expenses.

        Under Scheme II  in case of families with two girl children and no male child, an initial deposit of  Rs. 15,200/-is made with Tamil Nadu Power Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd., for each of the girl children by the Government. A monthly payment of about Rs.150/- is made from the interest accrued from the deposit to take care of the education of each child from Standard I to X. Each of the two girl children will be eligible for a terminal benefit from the deposit with accrued interest on the 20th year of deposit. This will enable them to pursue their higher studies or to defray their marriage expenses.

Eligibility Criteria

 

 

a) Income Limit

Family income should be below Rs.50,000/. per annum for Scheme – I and below Rs.24,000/- per annum for Scheme - II

 

b) Age limit

Application should be made before the girl child completes 3 years of age for Scheme I. For Scheme II the age of the second girl Child should be less than 3 years.

 

c) Other Criteria

Family should have only one/two female children and no male child. In future no male child should be adopted.

Either of the parent should have undergone sterilization with in 35 years and sterilization Certificate  

 

d) Time limit for sending the Application

Application should be made before the beneficiary girl child completes 3 years of age for Scheme I. For scheme II the age of the second has  be less than 3 years.

III. Free supply of not books for the Children of poor widows.

        Under this scheme free text books   are Distributed to the children of poor widows whose family income is less than Rs. 12,000/- pen annum. The value of free  note books supplied to the children of poor widows studying from I std to XII Std one  as follows.

 

      I  Std to II Std.                                       : Rs.  50/- per child

    III  Std to V  Std.                                      : Rs. 125/- per child

    VI  Std to VIII Std                                     : Rs. 175/- per child

    IX  Std to X Std                                         : Rs. 300/- per child

    XI  Std to XII Std.                                     : Rs. 600/- per child

 

 

                                                                        SPECIAL PROGRAMME

DETAILS  OF  WOMEN  INDUSTRIAL  CO-OPERATIVE  SOCIETIES  IN  PERAMBALUR  DISTRICT  UNDER  THE CONTROL  OF  SOCIAL  WELFARE  DEPARTMENT

                       The Government of Tamil Nadu has taken Several initiatives to empower the Women Economically, make them self reliant and to build self confidence and financial strength to deal with adverse situations with  problems.

 1.  Perambalur District Women Tailoring Industiral Co-operative Society  Ltd.,

           Accordingly the State Government have started Industrial Womean Co-operative Societies to provide gainful employment to women. At present there is one Co-operative Society is functioning at Permabalur District for stitching free supply of uniform to the poor Noon meal School  children.

         The members of the tailoring Co-operative Society and stitching   uniforms which will be handed over to education department for distribution to the noon meal children studying From Ist Standard to VIIIth Standard.

  

2. District Cloth Cutting Centre, Thuraimangalam  Perambalur Dist.,

                 As per the Government order G.O.Ms.No. (D) 80 Social Welfare and nutritious meal programme, Chennai Dated 11.05.2005. Cutting centre has been establishment at Perambalur District for cutting free supply of uniforms cloth, to be stiched and distributed  to noon meal children, studying from I st standared to VIII th standared .

       

 The cutting centre is providing employment opportunities for women.

SHORT STAY HOME ;-

            Tamil Nadu Government is a pioneer State in launching various programmes to protect and promote the welfare of the Children and Women to help the needy neglected, destitute and abundant girls and women. The Government of India is giving grant in aid  for running one Short Stay Home through Non-Governmental organizations,  in Perambalur  District with    30    inmates.

3.  HOME FOR THE  AGED;-

 

          Aged people who are helpless and have no place to go, need  institutional care and affection. Government of India is giving grant for running home for the aged through Non-Governmental organization to provide free accommodation, food and health Care for the Aged people. The main aim of the scheme is to provide Food, Shelter, Health Care protection and rehabilitation of the aged people who were deserted by their own relatives.

In Perambalur District  a Non-Government organization by name St. John Sangam trust Perambalur is running a home for the aged with Assistance form State Government for 40 Beneficiaries and another  NGO by name periyar Kudil is running a home for the aged with assistance from Central Government for 25 beneficiaries  as Detailed below

4. FAMILY CONSELLING CENTRE:-

 

The Family Counseling Centre, run by NGO Indio  Trust Perambalur  is a fully accredited, professional counseling agency dedicated to strengthening and supporting the quality of life for individuals, couples, children and families The Main purposes are to offer professional services to individuals and families in times of need and to facilitate community awareness of issues and information pertinent  to individual and family functioning.

Objectives.

5. CHILD ADOPTION;

 

What is adoption ? Need for adoption ?

        Adoption is placing the abandoned and destitute children in another family legally that is rehabilitation for orphan destitute by finding a family atmosphere for the child legally. The institution can only satisfy the basic needs of the child like food, shelter, clothing etc., Above the basic needs, human beings need emotional support for proper development of personality. This can be availed only in a family.

          “ Every child has a right to love, be loved and to grow up in an atmosphere of love and affection and of moral and material security and this is possible only if the child is brought up in a family.

SALIENT FEATURES OF ADOPTION

             Any child below 15 years of age who is Hindu or brought up as Hindu or brought up as Hindu may be adopted.

            A Hindu male who is over 21 years old and of sound mind may adopt himself if single and with consent of his wife if married.

            A Female Hindu who is single in status, ie., either unmarried, divorced or widowed and is over 21 years old and is of sound mind may adopt child.

            Adopted Child gets all the rights of a biological child.

            An adopted child cannot be placed on adoption once again
